David E. Sater, 88, of Neosho Falls, Kansas, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at his home.

He was born April 11, 1919, in Rich Hill, Missouri, the son of Joseph H. and Amanda E. (Ellifrits) Sater.

At an early age he moved with his family to Kansas City. He began working for Rock Island Railroad at 16 and was graduated from Wyandotte High School.

On January 18, 1941, he was married to Margaret Monslow. She died Jan. 22, 1999.

He served with the United States Navy during World War II.

After his military service, he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1979 and made his home in Neosho Falls, KS.

He was a member of a Catholic church.

He is survived by a son, Randall, Kansas City, KS; two daughters Davalene "Davy" Wilbanks, Independence, MO, and Jeanette Akey of Holyoke, CO; a son-in-law, George Earl Lofton, Neosho Falls, KS; a sister, Christine Craig, Kansas City, KS; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Linda Lofton, three brothers, Elmer, Paul and Charles, and two sisters, Pearl and Margaret, died earlier.

Rosary will be recited at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Piqua followed by a funeral Mass. The Rev. Robert Wachter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery in Piqua, Kansas.
