James Oliver Kennedy age 87 of Homedale,Idaho died September 6, 2007 in a Caldwell Hospital surrounded by his family members. He was known by some as J.O., Oliver,James,Dad, Pop or Grandpa. His childhood nickname was "Chill" Oliver was born on August 4, 1920 to John and Dora (Jackson) Kennedy in Mayes County, Oklahoma. He was one of 8 children.

He was introduced to Beatrice Hinds through a cousin and she immediately caught his eye. They begin dating and eventually married on August 18,1940. They lived in Oklahoma and New Mexico, where he farmed for a living. They moved to Arizona where he became a big equipment operator. Then moved and lived a short time in California and Oregon-finally moving to Idaho in 1961 where they lived in Meridian, Boise and then settling in Homedale for the remaining 27 years of his life. He and Bea had their 67th anniversary on August 18th.

Oliver began working for Trus-Joist Corp. in Boise, Idaho in 1961 and continued until his retirement in 1980.

He began studying the bible on his own. He loved studying the Word of God and especially enjoyed studying Prophecy. He was a member of the Chruch of God 7th Day and attended in Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell and Homedale.

Oliver loved music and was a self-taught guitar player as well as his sons. Singing specials with his wife and children for church and camp meetings was one of his hobbies. He later enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren following in his footsteps and singing in church. He also was an avid gardener. This summer with the help of his son, Phillip, they put out a big garden. The day before he was hospitalized he was out in the garden. He and Bea were still canning corn, pickles, tomatoes, beans, jam etc. up until his death.

Oliver is survived by his wife Bea and seven children: Vera (Sheffield) Kennedy of Homedale, Linda Ward of Nampa, Sue and Larry Childers of Nampa, Wayne Kennedy of Nampa, Roger Kennedy of Homedale. Phillip Kennedy of Homedale. He was preceded in death by two sons: Lonny Kennedy, & Greg Kennedy and two grandchildren. Oliver and Bea had 27 grandchildren and 72 great and great-great grandchildren.
