William H. Abbey enlisted in the Massachusetts National Guard in 1917 and was assigned to Company "C" from Worcester Massachusetts 104th Infantry Regiment of the 26th (Yankee) Division. He was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart Medal in 1962 prior to his death.
