Boxer Rebellion Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Oleesen Norway, he served as a Gunner's Mate, 3rd Class in the US Navy. In action with a relief expedition of the Allied forces in China, between the dates of June 13 and 20 to 22, 1900, he distinguished himself in the face of enemy many times. For meritorious conduct, he was awarded the Medal of Honor in July 1901.
