Robert "Bob" Glenn Baird left his earth on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in San Francisco, California. After celebrating his 80th birthday in July, Bob and his wife of 54 years decided to go sightseeing. They jumped on a train in Crawfordsville and made the long journey to California. Shortly after arriving, they both tested positive for Covid. Despite having the vaccines, Bob's pre-existing health conditions prevented his body from fighting the virus.

He was born in Fincastle, Indiana on July 6, 1941 to the late Harry Clifford Baird and Olive Everman Baird. They raised him on the farm along with this three brothers, Joseph, James, and David. They preceded him in death.

Bob attended the New Market Christian Church for most of his adult life.

After graduating from Roachdale High School in 1959, he attended Indiana State University on a basketball scholarship. This is where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and graduate degrees in Mathematics and Physics. Upon graduating college, he found himself doing a favor for a friend and started teaching at New Market High School. Rumor has it, this is where he met his future wife, Carol German. Bob and Carol wed on June 24, 1967. They went on to have two children and raised them a very short distance from where he spent the next several decades teaching. He leaves behind his wife and children, Corbin (Rhonda) Baird and Emily (Joseph) McCutchan. As well as his grandchildren Maya, Caden, Quincy, and Owen.

Although he never envisioned being a teacher, he developed a joy for teaching high school. Teaching Chemistry, Physics, Math, and Astronomy at New Market and then Southmont High School until 1997. It was working with his fellow teachers and the students, where he developed some of his strongest friendships. After school in the afternoon, and summertime, he explored many hobbies and pastimes. Some of those include this love of bird watching, playing golf, gardening, wood working, and general shenanigans. His former students will know of his love of making bets for about anything, including shooting free throws and White Castle eating contests. If you knew Bob, you knew a man full of a lot of things. Including lots of love, laughter, stories, horrible jokes, and random anecdotes.
