Glen was born in Bethesda Maryland to Pete and Pauline Hayes on September 3, 1955. He passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and family on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

Glen was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael and his father, David P. Hayes.

Glen grew up in Seabrook, Maryland and graduated from DuVal High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Agriculture at the University of Maryland. Glen worked with his father and brother in the family business, National Typewriter and Adding Machine Co. He recognized that computers were going to replace typewriters so he went back to school to learn about them. As he became more involved in the tech field he started his own business which eventually became GLX. Glen was our computer guru. He helped many friends and family members solve their computer problems, especially when computers weren't so user friendly.

The happiest day of his life was when his son, Michael, was born. He didn't know why his face hurt so much until he realized he had been smiling all day.

Glen enjoyed sports, especially football. He worked as a football official for recreation leagues, high school teams and college teams. He also coached many of Michael's basketball and lacrosse teams. He always encouraged and supported the players to do their best and he was quick with a compliment and praise. He continued to support his nieces and nephew with the same passion in all their sports and academic endeavors.

Glen was a good listener and many of his family sought out his advice. He kept those confidences so I can't really tell you anymore about that!

He loved his family and he was always there for them. He was a friend to all living things, although he avoided snakes, he couldn't turn away a stray cat or dog. Even spiders were carried out of the house to an alternate living space.

Glen loved learning and was very easy to talk to. Because he had a lot of knowledge about a variety of things, he could carry on a conversation with anyone. The thing that most of us remember about Glen is his sense of humor. It was always unexpected. If he had been the one to write this obituary, it would have been a lot more entertaining.
