Salvatore Bongiorno

Charlotte, NC - Salvatore N. Bongiorno, 84 of Charlotte NC originally from Endicott NY, died at Novant Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne Bongiorno; parents Joseph and Dorothea Bongiorno; and four sisters Sarah Rossi, Petrina Matterell, Annie Bonventre and Angie Sorrentino; and brother Jasper Bongiorno; and several in-laws. He is survived by his four children; daughter Dorothea Bongiorno, sons and daughters-in-law Frank and Jenny Bongiorno, Salvatore and Brooke Bongiorno; and Nicolas Bongiorno; five grandchildren Jaden, Giavanna, Adriano, Valentino and Luciano Bongiorno; brother Tony Bongiorno; and many sister and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, and was drafted serving during the Korean War. He was devoted to his family, always being there for his children, grandchildren and relatives. He adored watching all his grandchildren participate in their sporting events. Even though it was tough for him to get around the last few years, he would find away to be at their events. Known as "Sammy" or "Sam-bones", left his young personality imbedded in all that had the pleasure in knowing him. His motivation for keeping busy had him watching sports, gambling, hanging out with his family and just being the life of every gathering. He left is print in most of your homes with his decorative ceilings and plastered walls. I leave you with this: Our DAD, his sons HERO and daughter's first LOVE!!!!

Funeral Services will be held Friday 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 906 Jenkins Street, Endicott, NY 13760.
