Deputy Sheriff Joshua Joseph Moyers, 29, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at UF Health in Jacksonville.

Born in Jacksonville, Josh was a son of Tim and Brenda Davis Moyers. His parents brought him home from the hospital to Nassau County and it was his home for all of his years.

Josh was a 2010 graduate of Hilliard Middle-Senior High School. Always one to set goals and pursue them with hard work and discipline, he continued his education at St. Johns River State College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Safety. He was proud of his career with the Nassau County Sheriff's Office and eagerly put on his NCSO uniform each day as he served his community.

Josh was a loving and incredible young man with a servant's heart. The discipline and character that were his trademarks were exampled throughout his life. He always strived for perfection in everything he did. Whether it was his service as a Deputy Sheriff or as a son, brother or fiancé, Josh made his best effort. It is said of Josh he had the ability to "fight the battle of Jericho" because he was so intent and dedicated to his purpose, then "the walls would come tumbling down".

He was a smart, kind and loving person who always tried to help anytime he could. He could light up a room with is sense of humor. If his family needed something he would make it happen. He enjoyed surprising the ones he loved with gifts and acts of kindness. Josh had the unique quality of being able to make a special occasion even more special by his thoughtfulness and desire to make others happy.

A true "Country Boy" Josh loved the outdoors. He especially loved hunting. His passion was hunting wild hogs with dogs. As in the rest of his life he was even dedicated in the woods.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joseph Lester and Delores Davis and his paternal grandparents, Davie B. and Sally Moyers.

Josh leaves behind his parents, Tim and Brenda Moyers of Hilliard; his brother, Jordan Moyers of Broomfield, CO; his fiancé', Ivy Carter of Callahan, his Papa Dickie Davis of Hilliard as well as a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Services to remember and celebrate his life will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Callahan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

He will be laid to rest with full honors at Oakwood Cemetery in Hilliard.
