Miss Wood was tragically killed in an automobile accident in Santa Clara, California while attending the 1939 National Convention of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity in Pasadena, California with some of her sisters of the Omicron Chapter (University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee) of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity.
