Janet Laverne (Stites) Rogers passed away on September 29, 2021 in Madison, IN. She was born on May 18, 1939 in Austin, IN to Loren and Harriett (Vanmeter) Stites. She attended school in Scottsburg but had to quit due to family obligations. Later in life, she earned her GED and graduated from Ivy Tech in Madison, IN. She had been very active in the church and her daughters helped her every summer with crafts for VBS. She was formerly employed at the Dollar General Store as a clerk, Dieken's Bakery as the general manager, Joyce Shoe Factory on the assembly line, the Lanier Mansion as a tour guide/costume designer and Madison Rental Mart as a clerk. She also worked as a housekeeper where she met one of her closest friends. She loved gardening, painting, reading, classical music, science fiction movies and mystery/crime dramas. Her favorite shows included McMillan and Wife, Hawaii Five-O, McCloud, Barnaby Jones and Matlock.

She is survived by two daughters, two sisters, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Mary Stites; her daughter, Regina Cope; her sister, Wanda Pauline Kimmel; and her brother, Michael Stites.
