Tommy Levi Ackley, 51, died May 30, 2006, of natural causes at his home in Klamath Falls. Specific cause of death was not given.

A family gathering and barbecue with poker will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Altamont Grocery. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Monument Hill Cemetery in Woodland, Calif. Eternal Hills Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ackley was born Aug. 20, 1954, in Woodland to Cleon and Thelda Kast.

He lived in Woodland until the family moved to Sweet Home and later to Quincy, Calif., where he graduated from high school.

He attended Sacramento City College and played semi-pro football prior to enlisting in the Army.

In 2000, he moved to Klamath Falls and owned and operated Altamont Grocery. He was also known for working with Dorris Towing as a tow truck operator.

Mr. Ackley spent much of his time in stock car racing and playing poker. He loved to spend time with friends and family members. He enjoyed listening to old country and western music, including Rockin Robin.

Survivors include his children Karissa, Douglas, Charlotte and Jolinda; parents Thelda and Donald Rummel of Oroville, Calif., and Stella Ackley of Woodland; sisters and brothers-in-law Linda and Jeff Satterburg of San Diego and Gale and Gene Holbrook of Arkansas; sister Joan Keehn of Dallas, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law Gene Difuntorum of Woodland and Dale and Mary Ackley of Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Gerald Ackley and Rudy Difuntorum and his father.
