B-24D Liberator #41-24260 took off from Hamilton Field, north of San Francisco, at 06:40 hours for an enemy war patrol over the Pacific Ocean in the greater northern coast of California. The bomber radioed the airfield four times, giving it's position. At 10:00 hours, the crew gave their coordinates as 37° 30 min North, 131° 15 min West. This was the last contact received.
Despite an extensive search lasting more than two weeks, no evidence of the airplane was ever found. All seven crewmembers aboard were missing and presumed lost at sea.

1st Lt. David L Rosenberg, Navigator
S/Sgt. Gilbert L Simoneaux, Flight Engineer
