Leon P. Adams, 90, of Lake View Ave., died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton.
He leaves one son, Douglas Adams of Prescott Valley, Arizona; one daughter, Diane Takorian of West Brookfield; one brother, Norman Adams of West Brookfield; two sisters: Leona Chapin of West Brookfield and Catherine Rutherford of Fairhaven; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His wife of 63 years, Lorraine E. (Parker) Adams, predeceased him in 1999 and a son, Ronald Adams, in 2006.
He was born and grew up in North Brookfield, son of the late Leon H. and Ora B. (Newman) Adams and later lived 10 years in Warren, before moving to West Brookfield in 1950.
Mr. Adams was a truck driver for 18 years for the Sherman Oil Company in West Brookfield. He previously worked in fermentation and then as a driver for the former Capital Yeast Company in West Brookfield.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Senior Center in West Brookfield.
A Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585. Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is directing arrangements.
