Kathryn "Kay" was born January 29th 1931 in Danbury, Iowa to Pierre Wayne and Marice (Adams) Keitges. Kay was a 1948 graduate of Danbury Public High School. She earned an Associates Degree from St Mary's College, Omaha, Nebraska. As a laboratory technologist Kay interned at St Mary's Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin. On May 5th 1956 Kay married Bernard A Aarons, Jr at St Mary's Church, Danbury; he preceded her in death Feb 10, 1981.
Kay was a member of St Columbkille Catholic Church Papillion, Nebraska. She was an Alter Society member and Liturgical Committee leader. A talented musician, Kay played the piano. She liked classical music, showtunes and hymns. She taught her seven children to love and appreciate music. On many occasions, Kay's sons were goaded into singing together. They recall one of her favorites, 'The Bowery Grenadiers.' Kay enjoyed hymns; among her favorites: On Eagle's Wings and Ave Maria.
Kay graduated from Creighton University 1972, BS Medical Technology. For many years Kay worked in hospitals and private laboratories as a med tech. In the mid-1970's she began working at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas where her husband Bernard, a disabled veteran was a patient. Kay moved to Arizona in 1986 and has lived in Scottsdale for the past 34 years. She loved The Great Southwest! Although Kay worked in medical labs for decades her real interests were in gardening, landscaping and the fine arts; English Literature. In 1992 she joined a group from UC Berkeley, CA on a trip to Oxford University, UK. After retiring, Kay worked at the library. Her love of plants, flowers and trees was well known among parish members at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Kay's landscaping projects for the church, friends and neighbors gave her enormous joy! In 2015 she visited Danbury to attend her 67th high school reunion. She loved her hometown and cherished the memories of growing up next door to her paternal grandmother. Kay loved to read. Especially books on horticulture and the history of Arizona's desert landscapes. Kay looked forward with delight to completing the weekly WSJ Crossword Puzzle.
Kay will be remembered for her wit, intelligence, devout Catholic faith and selfless love for her family.
Survived by her seven children: John, Tricia Bosilevac (Tom), James, Joe (Patti), Jerry (Cynthia), Kathleen, Peter (Kim), nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death, sisters: Carol Hasenohrl, Elizabeth See, brother Perry Keitges. Survived by youngest sister, Julie Keitges.
