Son of Johann Franz Hieronymus (1729 - 1819) (who was born in Lorsbach, Germany, September 24, 1729 & died in Clark Co., KY) & Elizabeth Rector (Richter) Hieronymus, who married in 1760, the daughter of John Rector and Anna Catherine (Fishback) Rector;

Married Mary "Polly" Bush Hieronymus in Clark County, Kentucky in 1796. They subsequently moved to Washington, D.C. After experiencing financial setbacks during the time that they lived in Washington, D.C., he departed for Missouri in early 1820 to seek new opportunities, while Polly and the children remained in Washington. After receiving an appointment as the Indian agent in New Madrid, Missouri, he died in New Madrid, Missouri in spring 1820.
