This community was grieved last Tuesday to learn that Miss Kate Whitney had
died at her home in the Second Ward, shortly after noon. Miss Whitney had
been a great sufferer for several days from an attack of rheumatism, which
finally affected her heart and resulted in her death. The bereaved mother,
brothers and sisters have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
The funeral will occur at the Whitney home on north 7th street this
(Thursday) afternoon, at two o'clock.

(Following from the preceding paper.) Miss Kate Whitney has been quite ill
the last week, causing her friends much anxiety. Her brother, Fred, was notified
by telegram Monday, and her mother, who is at Lockport N. Y. caring for her
daughter Perna, was also notified of the serious illness of the daughter at
home. The sympathy of this community centers with the family who at the
present seem to have more than their share of suffering.

Fred Whitney arrived here Tuesday noon and the mother will arrive today from
Lockport, New York. Miss Whitney's condition is much worse this morning and
it is thought she can hardly last through the day.
