Born in Rayville, Louisiana, a sharecropper's son, Henry moved to San Jose, California at the age of 19 and started working digging ditches. Demonstrating his eagerness to learn and excellent work ethic, he was soon operating tractors and bulldozers and helping shape Santa Clara Valley. Henry owned his company, Henry Little Tractor Service, from 1968 to 2015, retiring at age 85! He loved moving dirt, working on hillsides, and demolishing buildings while on his tractor. Henry was a great example of the American Dream.
Henry spent his leisure time tending to his vegetable garden and his award-winning roses, vacationing with family and friends at Lake Shasta, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, and spending time at his ranch in Oroville, CA. Henry was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and church elder at Calvary Temple Church in Campbell, CA. He lived a life serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His time with family gave him the greatest joy.
A celebration of Henry's life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, 2:30 pm at Calvary Temple Church, 202 Railway Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008. He will be laid to rest at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, San Jose, CA. Memorial donations can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
