Mason B. Hicks, age 92, passed away on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va.
Mason was born in Saltville, Va. to the late George D. and Stella Hicks and was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Hicks; brother, Matthew Hicks and wife, Jeanette; sisters, Marilyn Hicks, June Arnold and husband, Gene, Sadie Jackson and husband, Ernest, Gussie Surber and husband, William.
Mason was a founding member for the building of the First Church of God on Chatham Hill Road. He loved going to church and singing praises to his Lord in the choir. He also sang in the Joyful Noise Choir. Mason was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Brunswick after 30 years of service. He enjoyed golf, softball, fishing, horseshoes, bowling, billiards, and playing his harmonica.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary O. Hicks; son, Gerald M. Hicks and wife, Anita of Marion, Va.; daughter, Linda H. Hash and husband, Eddie of Marion, Va.; granddaughter, Jennifer H. Blair and husband Steve of Bristol, Va.; nieces and nephews also survive.
Private Entombment will take place at Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum with Reverend Ronnie Thompson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the First Church of God or to the Alzheimer's Association. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
