Joy H.C. Shell Baker, 99, passed away at the Chaffee Nursing Center on March 9, 2009. Joy was born Oct. 4, 1909, to Frederick B. and Amanda Meyer Shell at Hahn Community in Bollinger County.
She married Raymond Shell on May 1, 1926, and he died May 1930.
She then married Charles A. Baker on Sept. 21, 1934, and he died April 12, 1986.
She was a charter member of the Chaffee General Baptist Church.
She worked for 26 years for the Chaffee Shoe Factory.
Survivors include two daughters, Evoleen Francis of Warrenton, MO; and Dortha White of Rockview, MO; three sons, Nolan (and Mary) Baker of St. Peters, MO; Norman (and Wanda) Baker of Franklin, NC; and Nelson (and Joyce) Baker of Camdenton, MO; a son-in-law, Lloyd Waldroop of Franklin, NC; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, one daughter (Mavis Imogean Waldroop) and three grandsons.
Visitation will be today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral will be Wednesday at the chapel. The Rev. Vyron Yount will officiate, with burial in Baker Cemetery in Marble Hill, MO.
