PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Annie A. Cromwell of 1610 Charleston Ave., the widow of the Rev. John T. Cromwell and a native of Washington, N.C., died Monday in a hospital.

She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Temple Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Luverna C. Spruill, Mrs. Erinda Groover, Mrs. Leoleon C. Johnson, Mrs. Fredia Mae Carter, and Mrs. Zula Mae Green of Portsmouth; seven sons, Edward S. Cromwell of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., the Rev. Olleo L. Cromwell of Chesapeake, James E. Cromwell of Brooklyn, Napoleon Cromwell, Roy J. Cromwell, and Charles M. Cromwell of Portsmouth, and William David Cromwell; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Jones, Mrs. Lillian Downs, and Mrs. Ophalee Brown of Williamston, N.C., and Mrs. Tildajane Polk of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; 27 grandchildren; and 27 great-garndchildren.

A funeral will be held Saturday at noon in Mount Hemon Baptist Temple Church by the Rev. I. S. Waters. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. A wake will be held in Corprew Funeral Home Friday night from 7 to 8. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 7 p.m. Thursday. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. Saturday.

NOTE: Annie's husband, John Thomas Cromwell died January 4, 1946. His death certificate indicates removal to Greenville, NC, but no location has been identified beyond this obituary:

John Cromwell - Funeral services for Mr. Cromwell, 2906 High street, Portsmouth, who died on January 4, were held on January 6 in Williamston, N.C. Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Annie Cromwell. Hale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
