Jacques Jacob Bronfenbrenner research professor of microbiology and immunology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest College died at N C Baptist Hospital at 1:30 a m today He was 69 The body will be cremated No funeral service will be held He is survived by his widow the former Alice Klein one daughter and two sons Dr Bronfenbrenner was born In Russia Nov 21 1883 and studied at the imperial new Russian University He came to the United States in 1909 and became a citizen in 1914 He was a fellow and assistant at Rockefeller Institute in He became head of the Department of Bacteriology and Immunology at Washington University St Louis Mo in 1928 remaining there until he retired last year He came to Bowman Gray School of Medicine July 1 1952 and confined his work mostly to research although he did some teaching
