She was born in Victoriaville, Quebec, on Aug. 31, 1913, to the late Joseph and Emma Rousseau Charest. She proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1959. She was raised and educated in Westbrook. She lived much of her married life in Scarborough, some years in Portland and returned to Westbrook to live many enjoyable years at Longfellow Place.
She was a very loving and caring mother, who enjoyed many outdoor activities with her children while they were growing up. She always loved baby-sitting her grandchildren or keeping them for a few days.
In later years she enjoyed playing cards with her sisters Rita, Lillian and Dolores and residents of Longfellow Place.
She was predeceased by her husband, George H. Stilphen; grandson, Geoffrey Stilphen; and siblings, Alfred, Omer, Leo, Germain and Conrad Charest, Rita Bard, Lillian Olsson, Gilberte Bard and Dolores Cormier. She is survived by son, George A. Stilphen of South Paris, daughter, Nancy T. and husband Bob Libby of Buxton; grandchildren, George M. and wife Dona Stilphen of Louisville, N.C., Jennifer and husband Steve Krebs of Limerick; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Leah Stilphen, Caleb, Joel and Josiah Krebs, Amber Cadmus and Sarah Storey; great-great-grandchildren, Toby Cadmus and Ruby and Victor Storey; and many nieces and nephews.
At her request funeral services will be private. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Arrangements are by Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
