Barbara J. May Blystone, the daughter of Al and Iva Walker May was born on December 8, 1933, in Grinnell, Iowa.

After graduating high school she moved to California where she was a production worker for several companies. After moving to Newton she worked as a housekeeper in several hotels in Newton.

Barbara had enjoyed roller skating. She also loved riding motorcycles, the Hawkeyes, the Cubs, the NFL, and watching movies.

Barbara died on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Comfort House-Hospice Care in Pella. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Hank Butler and sisters, Vivian and Patricia.

Surviving are her five children, Dan (Jane) Shine of Newton, Teresa (Steve) Pettyjohn of Oskaloosa, Clyde (Cathy) Shine of Newton, James Shine of Newton, and Kathy Blystone of Newton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
