George James Stelting was born in Washita County, Oklahoma to John and Mary Stelting. George was the youngest son of 13 children; there were nine girls and four sons.

George was a very holy man who was devoted to his Catholic faith, his wife and family. George and his wife Mary had their first child in Oklahoma City. George and his family then moved to Wichita, Kansas. George and Mary had three more children. George and his family then moved back to Oklahoma and had two more children. George worked for Overhead Door Co. in Kansas before moving back to Oklahoma. George retired after working for Tinker Air Force Base for 33 years.

George enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, working puzzles, watching old Western movies, and most of all, spending time with family.

George James Stelting was preceded in death by his parents, John Fred Stelting and Mary (Blagowsky) Stelting. Also, his stepmother, Nellie (Bushman) Stelting. Brothers Abraham, John, and Walter. Sisters Tena Klaassen, Mary Penner, Margie Ladish, Helen Peacock, Ann Duibley, Leona Davis, Elfrieda (Frieda) Horton, Bertha (Boots) Jennings, and Matilda (Till) Atteberry. Also, a daughter-in-law, Tina Lynn (Gibson) Stelting and a great-grandson, Rylan Wayne Hunter Stelting.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Ellen (Atteberry) Stelting – George and Mary were married on June 1, 1954 in Medford, Oklahoma. George and Mary were married for 67 years. Their children – Daughter Paula Ann Kelly and husband Danny Kelly of Moore, OK. Son George James Stelting II of Blanchard, Oklahoma. Son Randy David Stelting, wife Tommie Sue Stelting of Blanchard, OK. Daughter Mary Diane Foote and husband David Wayne Foote of OKC, OK. Daughter Kelly Rosanne Swiney and husband Douglas Harold Swiney of OKC, OK. Son Dennis Wayne Stelting and wife Tracy Stelting of McLoud, OK.

George and Mary had 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandy) Jackson, Tina Renee Gibson, Kristina (Kristi) Lynn Deason, Misti Dawn Foster, John Daniel Tastad, Natasha Nicole Swiney, Tyler Don Howard, Lisa Marie Halford, Christopher Douglas Swiney, Kyle Wayne Stelting, Alyssa Joyce Stelting, and Rebecca LeAnn Stelting. Many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends – simply too many to count.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM through 8:30 PM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway Avenue in Moore, Oklahoma. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 120 South Broadway Avenue in Moore, Oklahoma.

Services for George will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Saint Therese Little Flower Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, located at 1125 S. Walker Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore, Oklahoma.

Interment will follow the service at the Hydro Masonic Cemetery, located approximately 2 miles North of town on Highway 58 in Hydro, Oklahoma, 73048.
