Howard James

Howard James, 72, of Carrollton, died Sunday, October 13, 1996, of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.

Mr. James was born in Carroll County and lived there most of his life. He was a retired Carroll County Deputy Sheriff. He served 15 years. During World II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a Baptist a member of the V.F.W. in Grenada.

Mr. James was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Kay Jones, and a brother, Milton James.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, at Wilson & Knight Chapel in Greenwood with the Rev. Gary Tanner officiating. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery in Carroll County.

Mr. James is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby McGehee James of Carrollton; one daughter, Mrs. Marsha Joiner of Brandon; one son, Keith James of Carrollton; his mother, Mrs. Lela C. James of Greenwood; six grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers were Edward M. Corder, Percy A. Corder, Don Gray, C. D. Whitfield, Charles H. James, Herbie Corder, Ricky James and Larry Emmons.

Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood was in charge of services.
