Funeral services for Sam Sterling Harwell, 81, retired farmer of Giles County, were held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at Pisgah Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. James T. Parsons, Methodist minister. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Mr. Harwell died Sunday, December 18, at the home of a son in Shelbyville where he has resided the past two years.
Born August 21, 1879, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Thomas Fletcher Harwell and Ida Montgomery Harwell. He was a member of Pisgah Methodist Church.
Mr. Harwell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Osborne Harwell; two sons, Sterling Harwell, both of Shelbyville, and Robert Harwell, Texas; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
