Mary I. (Samchisen) Barbara age 87, of Dundee, NY. She was born April 15, 1918 in Elmira Heights, daughter of the late Samuel and Eva (Hilschanska) Samchisen and passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at home after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Anthony (Tony) Barbara; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Arden Santulli of Elmira and Waneta Lake; granddaughters, Sandra (Matt) Marotto of Carrboro, NC, and Teresa (Eric) Ernst of Lake Charles, LA; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Katy Marotto, Allison and Phillip Ernst; sisters, Dorothy Samchisen of Elmira Heights, Judy Siglin of Elmira, and Anna Snyder of Corning; brothers, John (Lorraine) and Mike Samchisen, both of Elmira Heights, and Steve Samchisen of Lowman; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William Samchisen. Mary loved gardening and crocheting and was a wonderful seamstress who made all her own clothes. She was past president of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Sunday, June 26th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Panykhyda will be held at 2 p.m. Panykhyda will continue there on Monday, June 27th, at 10:30 a.m., followed by Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. Vasile Godenciuc will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
