OTTAWA – August Leo Schroeder, 81, of Ottawa, died 1:25 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on April 28, 1940 in Leipsic to the late Frank Saturinus and Mary Catherine (Hermiller) Schroeder.

Survivors include two siblings: Stephen Schroeder of Ottawa and Margaret Palte of Lakeview; and two sisters-in-law: Kathy Schroeder and Rose Schroeder both of Ottawa.

He was also preceded in death by eight siblings: Esther (Joe) Fuerst, Ardella (Jim) Kleman, Ambrose (Rita) Schroeder, Evelyn (Dean) McLaughlin, Madonna Schroeder, Andrew (Germaine) Schroeder, John (Mary Jane) Schroeder, Herman Schroeder; and six half-brothers: Richard (Rovena) Schroeder, Linus (Josephine) Schroeder, Nelmun Schroeder, Everett (Mary Jane) Schroeder, Sixtus (Martha) Schroeder and Herbert (Marian) Schroeder; sister-in-law: Mary Schroeder; and brother-in-law: Butch Palte.

August retired from Lousiana-Pacific in Ottawa. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and the Ottawa Eagles. August liked to do crafts, play cards, farm, talk about his childhood, loved to eat and tell stories.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Steve Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow with military rites in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to Mass on Monday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center, Leipsic.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic.
