Please note that the surname in England was Lowe but often mispronounced with a long "o" as in allow. When Richard and Eliza moved to the US they took the opportunity to drop the E in an attempt to correct the error in the pronunciation. It didn't work - as a result some of the boys went back to Lowe and some did not. Edward Lowe wrote of this in a letter to his sons, Earl and Frederick prior to his death. Earl was my grandfather and documented the letter in his keeping of the family tree. Its also apparent in the Edward Lowe family Bible given to Edward and Nancy Boyer upon their marriage by Richard and Eliza and now in my possession. Frederick and Earl were born in Michigan with the name noted Low - Leila was born in Minnesota with the name Lowe. I suspect, but I don't have any firm confirmation, that they gave Bibles to all of their children upon marriage. I know that the Benjamin Low family also has a very similar Bible given as a wedding gift.

I don't think and of the girls changed as they were not affected once they married.

Obituary
Mrs. Lillie Booth.
Mrs. Lillie Booth of Nester Dam died very suddenly Thursday evening June 30th, at her home at A. P. Clark's. She had been sick for nearly three weeks with catarrhal affections of the lungs and bronchial tubes, but was getting better and sat up a couple of hours, but expired soon after going back to bed, a blood vessel being ruptured. Deceased has lived in this vicinity for eight years and had a large circle of friends. The funeral was held at the Grout school house and interment under the auspices of the A. O. O. G., she being a member of that order. Her father Thomas Low of Stanton and her sister, Mrs. A. J. Ervey of Wheeler, were present at the funeral which was one of the largest ever held is this vicinity, there being about seventy conveyances in attendance. She leaves two daughters, Gladys and Mrs. Geo Neff of Ballard, Washington. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing friends.
