Bernice C. Resch, age 92, formerly of Whitelaw, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at The Court of Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Bernice was born on April 30, 1929, in Branch, daughter of the late Charles C. and Alvina L. (Dworsak) Havlichek. She graduated with the class of 1946 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On June 1, 1949, she married Joseph A. Resch at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The couple recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. Together they farmed in Branch and raised five children on the family farm. Bernice loved flower gardening, reading, traveling, and fishing in Door County. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw and its Christian Mothers Society. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband: Joseph A. Resch, Whitelaw; her five children and their spouses: Carol (Allan) Lallensack, Manitowoc; Joseph C. (Susan) Resch, Whitelaw; Nancy Pekarske, Mosinee; Mary Kay (Michael) Maigatter, Appleton; Kevin (Susan) Resch, Whitelaw; 18 grandchildren: Chad Lallensack, Eric Lallensack, Ryan (Sara) Lallensack, Jennifer (William) Neumann, Joseph V. (Shannon) Resch, Linda (Brian) Engelbrecht, Gregory (Molly) Resch, Andrew (Kari) Resch, Douglas (Hannah) Resch, Thomas (Bernadette) Resch, Nathan (Emily) Pekarske, Michael Pekarske, Lorrin (Greg) Potts, Kristin (Brent) Bunker, Michael (Katie) Maigatter, Matthew (Alanna) Maigatter, Kyle (Adrienne) Resch, Michael Wenzel; 28 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild due in January; two great-great grandchildren; one sister: Germaine Stradal, Whitelaw; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Margaret Gwidt, De Pere; Mary (Elmer) Phipps, Reedsville. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Alvina Havlichek; one son-in-law: Larry Pekarske; three brothers: Gardy, William, and Melvin Havlichek; one sister and two brothers-in-law: LaVerne (George) Stueber, Joseph Stradal; five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Harry (Anna) Resch, Louis (Dorothy) Resch, Norman (Mary) Resch, Dorothy (James) Preston, and John Gwidt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
