Wood, Christopher Jay
With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Christopher Jay Wood of Halifax, age 62, on 10 November 2020, at the VG Hospital, Halifax.

Chris was born 25 August 1958 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the son of Harold and Diane (Demers) Wood.

He was the younger brother to sister Dawn and brother Harold.

A son in a military family, Chris enjoyed moves across Canada and Germany. He loved to travel.

In 1979 Chris completed his Class A mechanics qualification in Granville Ferry, NS. Although born elsewhere Chris was a Nova Scotian from the start.

In 1983 Chris worked nights as a mechanic with a GM dealer in Toronto while attending Devry Institute full time for 3 1/2 years in their program in Engineering and Technology, (Computers and Electronics).

On Graduation, Chris returned to NS where he worked on projects with Litton Engineering. He moved on to the Canada Coast Guard which was his passion for 10 years. He fulfilled numerous roles within the Coast Guard due to his qualifications and knowledge.

Unfortunately early onset Parkinson's disease ended Chris's Coast Guard career.

Chris had a quick mind, a broad knowledge, a sharp wit and a particular passion for, and knowledge of, the technical and mechanical world. He was kind, gentle and generous. He will not be forgotten.

Chris will live forever in the hearts of his surviving father, Dr. Harold Wood, his sister Dawn Verge, her husband Bruce and his Uncle John Demers.

Chris will be deeply missed by his life long friend Mark (Sandra) and his neighbour extraordinaire Mike.

Cremation will take place and interment in the family plot in Brookside Cemetery in Bedford.

Memorial donations may be made to the QE ll Foundation, Halifax. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.coleharbourfuneral.com
