AUSTIN, Texas - Patricia Ann (Rummings) Haney of Austin, Texas, affectionately known as "Gamma" by her grandchildren, and also known for a kind heart, abundant laughter and a warm spirit, departed her loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, from complications due to cancer. Patricia was 79.

Patricia was born June 7, 1942, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. to parents Mary Jane (Rowles) and Arthur Wilson Rummings.

She was raised in Clearfield and was married to Jerry Brent Haney for 49 years. She graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1960 and Lock Haven University in 1964 with a degree in education.

Patricia is survived by her mother, Mary Jane; two sons, Matthew and wife Amber Haney of Midland, Texas, and Wilson and wife Lisa Haney of Austin, Texas; two brothers, James and wife Patty Rummings of Las Vegas, Nev. and Arthur and wife Donna Rummings of Clearfield; one sister-in-law, Joyce and husband Ardell Shirey of Clearfield; grandchildren, Meghan, Andrew, Emma, Brent, Caroline, Ethan and Tom; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her best friend and companion, Archie, whom she rescued from the animal shelter 11 years ago.

She is preceded in death by her father, Art; her oldest son, Maurice Charles; her husband, Jerry; and two sisters-in-law, Joann and Verna.

Patricia held many positions in her teaching career. She was also a lover of the arts, an avid painter and quilter. Patricia is an Honorary Regent of the Jacob's Well Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in Wimberley, Texas, and Washington, D.C.; member of the Capital Area Regents Council, Texas Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in Austin, Texas; Member of the Clara Barton Detached Tent 3 of the National Society of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, in San Antonio, Texas; Member of The Hill Country Senior Center in Dripping Springs, Texas where she volunteered her time and energy to create beautiful quilts with other DAR friends. These quilts were given away to many charities, friends and neighbors. Patricia was diligently interested in genealogy and had traced family roots back into the 1700s.

Patricia's family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that cared for her in her final days, especially those at Christopher House Hospice Care in Austin, Texas.

Graveside services will be held in Clearfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Patricia's name be made to the Hill Country Senior Center, PO Box 160, Dripping Springs, TX 78620-0160; or Austin Pets Alive, 1156 West Cesar Chavez, Austin, TX 78703.
