Hebron Journal 8-18-1916:
Caroline Clark Apley was born at Chaplin, Conn., Nov. 13, 1826 and died Aug. 7, 1916 at the home of her son, W. G. Apley, at Hebron, Neb., aged 89 years, 8 months and 27 days.
On Dec. 25, 1853, she was united in marriage with Dwight Apley. Three children were born to this union--W. G. Apley of Hebron, Nebr., C. D. Apley of Holton, Kansas, and Mrs. W. J. Meyer of Bladen, Nebr.
In 1878, she joined the Methodist Protestant Church at Colo, Iowa and never transferred her membership to any other.
She moved to Thayer County with her husband in 1907, at which time her husband preceded her , then she has made her home with her daughter at Bladen and with her son at Hebron, at whose home she passed away last Monday morning.
Mrs. Apley is the sixth of a family of ten children to die of old age. She always lived a consistent Christian life after joining the church and was ready and willing to go to join her husband.
Three years ago last May she suffered a stroke of paralysis which left her in a somewhat weakened condition. She died of old age. She suffered no pain or agony and passed away peaceably.
Rev. Mr. Moore, pastor of the M. E. Church at Bladen was to have preached the sermon, as he was her pastor for some time and was well known to her. Because of the illness of his wife he was not able to come.
She is survived by two sons, one daughter, eleven grand children and six great-grandchildren--her husband having previously gone to his reward.
