Sandie Schwaiger, owner and manager of Jägerhaus German Restaurant, in Anaheim, California, died on October 6th; this following a fall in May, and complications from which she did not fully recover. Sandie's enthusiasm and optimism guided Jägerhaus for more than 21 years. A truly gracious lady.

Schwaiger's friendly nature and her love of German food began at home. She was the eldest of three children born to Thelma Marsted Carlson and Lester Frank Schockner. Her father served in the army in World War II and afterward, he retired as a colonel. He had a gift for cooking authentic German food; his parents having been immigrants from that country

While working in Huntington Beach, CA., Sandie met a German chef, Anton Schwaiger. They married and bought Jägerhaus together. It had already been in business for about 20 years, but they took it over after the owner retired in 2000. After she and Anton Schwaiger divorced, Sandie continued to run the place, which she loved, never planning to retire. "And do what?" she often said.

Sandie is survived by her sisters Leslie Schockner and Alison Schockner; her niece Alyssa Biniak; and great nieces: Olivia Marin Biniak, Zehren Sawyer Biniak and Everly Quinn Biniak.

Sandie was buried in Riverside, CA in Evergreen Memorial Park after a private service. A Celebration of Life will be planned for her in the spring that will include all of her friends and fans.
