Lucille Ruth (Krueger) Ables, age 93, of Columbus, died peacefully under hospice care Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Violet Springs in Pickerington. Born May 23, 1928 in Wamego, Kansas the late Rev. Theophil and Emma (Sitz) Krueger. She was raised in Kansas and relocated with her family to Columbus. The daughter of a Lutheran pastor, she earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Capital University, and her Master's Degree in social administration from The Ohio State University.
Following graduation, Lucille remained in Columbus to work as a social worker. She met George Ables in Columbus and they were married on March 21, 1952. After the birth of her children, she went to work for the State of Ohio, then a few years later worked at Lutheran Social Services for the remainder of her career. Lucille loved attending church, sewing quilts for her Lutheran parish, reading, and teaching Bible Study. She was an avid Reds and Buckeyes fan.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1987; daughter, Karen (Jim) Ables-Iden; and sister, Alice Main.

Lucille is survived by sons, David (Paula) Ables, Oneida, Il, and Larry (Kelly) Ables, Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Steven and Shawna Ables, Samantha (Adam) Markins, Courtney Ables, and Ashley (Josh) Odenthal; brother, Keith Krueger; nieces and nephews. Lucille was especially proud to be the great-grandmother of six.
