Funeral services for Robert W. Gallagher, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Grace Lutheran Church of LaGrange, 201 N. Catherine Ave., LaGrange Park, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Randhill Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Robert was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Illinois National Guard. He retired after 23 years of service at Barnstead/Labline Instruments in Melrose Park. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of LaGrange for over 50 years, past commander of V.F.W. Post @#5163, and a member of the American Legion and the Illinois Police Association. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to June (nee Goebbert); loving father of Donna (Larry) Mayfield of Plano, Texas, Patricia (John) Cheeseman of South Bend, Ind., John. R. Gallagher of LaGrange, Andrew Gallagher of Waterman, Ill. and the late James (Susan) Gallagher of Wheeling; cherished grandfather of 10; cherished great-grandfather of two; dear brother of John D. Gallagher of Niles; loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and survived by many brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Florine Gallagher; his brother, Carson Gallagher; and by a granddaughter, Kimberly. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, or to the V.F.W.
