Betty Lucille York, age 88 passed away Saturday morning, October 30, 2021 at The Waters of Shelbyville (TN) Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 10, 1933 in Fentress County to the late Elmer and Alta Rachael Spurling Young.

Betty loved her family, gardening and cooking. She owned and operated Monterey Flower Shop for over 20 years and remained in the flower business for several years. She cherished her grandchildren and loved for them to spend the night and cook for them. Her relationship with God was important to her and she spent time worshiping Him daily. She was a member of Knights Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son: Rex (Barbara) York of Cookeville; daughters: Charlotte Bussell of Shelbyville and Cindy Loftis of Cookeville; sisters: Lucy Smith and Joyce Greason - both of Crossville and Euella Petersen of Greenville, Michigan; grandchildren: Josh (Jocelyn) Loftis, Tabitha (Scott) Allen, Jeremy York, Shara (Chris) Sides and Rachel York; and by twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: Johnnie York; son: Steve York; grandson: Chris Bussell; sister, Maryella Atkinson; and by sons in law: Dale Bussell and Randy Loftis.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 1, 2021 from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Gillock officiating. Entombment followed at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
