Anchorage resident Michael Dallas Crandall , 12, died at a friend's home Feb. 28, 2004. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel. The Rev. Jim Brenn will officiate. Interment will follow at Angleus Memorial Park. The family prefers casual attire. A private viewing is planned.
Michael was born April 16, 1991, to Debra and Robert Crandall at Humana Hospital. He was dedicated into the Christian faith as an infant by his parents at church with the congregation in attendance. Michael was in the seventh grade at Mears Middle School. He loved video games and football. His family stated: " Michael will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was a very loving child, but also very opinionated. He cared about other people and 'everyone loved Mike,' as his father always said. He was recently struggling with seventh grade, as many kids do. It is very hard on kids trying to grow from children into adolescence today. We will think of him often as every little thing that he did will remind us of his life and how rich we were for having him in our family."
Michael is survived by his parents, Debra and Robert Crandall ; brother and sister, Joshua and Jessica Crandall , all of Anchorage; half-sister, Adrienne Sluder of Fort Wayne, Ind.; paternal grandparents, James and Donna Crandall of Anchorage; maternal grandparents, Robert and Naomi Owen of Ocala, Fla.; aunts and uncles, Amiel Crandall , Ron and Christie Owen, John and Karen Bergamaschi, all of Anchorage, Don and Leah Hiles of Kenpu, South Korea, and Don and Fanny Owen of Kotzebue; cousins, Trevor and Amiel Crandall Jr., Taryn and J.V. Bergamaschi, Christopher, Missy, and Alicia Hiles, Jayme, Keira and Angelina Reed, and Ariel, Amber and James Owen.
