George was born in St Clair county, Illinois. On Dec 10, 1848, he married Miss Emiline Stookey. She died, leaving one child, Barbara of Jerseyville, who still survives him. Mr. Short was married again of Sept 30, 1856, his second union being with Miss Sarah E. Thrift. Six children were born, two survive:they are Mrs. Henrietta Reynolds of Argenta, and Mrs Goldella Stein of Monte Vista, Col. He also leaves four grandchildren, Mrs. Benton Jones of Argenta,
Ralph Reynolds who resides on the home place near Emery and Misses Ruth and Elizabeth Stein of Monte Vista. He also leaves three great
grandchildren. Mr. Short's life was one of industry and duty. He was a member of the Baptist church. The funeral of George. B. Short of
Emery will be held Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at the family residence. Burial will be in Friends Creek cemetery, near Argenta.
