Helen V. Patterson, age 73 of Belle Fourche, died Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.

The funeral service will be held 10:30am Saturday, November 6th, 2021 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place 9:30 am Monday, November 8th at Pine Slope Cemetery.

Helen Victoria Wilson was born April 27, 1948 in Ridgecrest, California. She was the daughter of Victor and Helen (Nelson) Wilson. At the age of 7, Helen moved with her family to Belle Fourche where she attended Ingersoll Country School. She later graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1966. In 1970, she was united in marriage to Paul Patterson in Belle Fourche. Following their marriage, they moved to Arkansas where they lived for 8 years. In 1978 they moved to Colestrip, Montana and in 1984 they moved to Hammond, Montana. Then in 1986 they settled in Belle Fourche. Paul and Helen were divorced, but shortly after, they reunited and they enjoyed 45 years together. Paul died in 2016.

Helen was a strong woman who worked hard. For over 25 years she was a cook at the Belle Inn. She also cooked and cleaned at Belle Fourche Livestock. For a few years, Helen worked at Diane Palm's assisted living center, caring for the elderly. Helen enjoyed gardening and she loved her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Honesty and integrity were important values to Helen. She was a bit of a workaholic, and worked for everything she ever had. Helen was also stubborn and she was loving. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her daughter and her spouse; her son and his spouse; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; long-time partner in life, Paul Patterson; an infant son; and brother, Elmo Wilson and sister, Bessie Mungle.
