Donna Jean Buckhalter, 66, of Fairmont, W.Va., died Friday, October 29, 2021, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Donna was born December 1, 1955, in Augusta, Ga., to Donal and Emma Jean Buckhalter. She graduated from Mapletown High School in 1972.

She was an outstanding cake decorator designing and making all her brothers extravagant wedding cakes. Donna also played softball for many years in the Greene County Women' Softball League.

Donna worked at West Virginia State University for over 30 years, retiring in 2018. When asked by anyone who knew her, she was always described as the most kind, caring and generous person they knew. In fact, she spent her finally days caring for an elderly lady in southern West Virginia until she was admitted to the hospital.

Donna will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by brothers, Rex (Gina), Kim and Jay (Penny); as well as her sister-in-law, Gina; and nieces and nephews, Chad (Dorina), Gerod, Brittany (Daniel), Jeremey, Bethany (Matt), Christin (Tom), Sarah, (Michael), Paige, Alison (Nathan); and great-nieces and nephews, Cai, Aden, Asher, Carter, Asher, Matthew, Nathan, Hannah and Eldon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Jean; and brothers, Allen and Tod.

There will be a graveside committal service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 6, at the Monongahela Hill Cemetery located on Route 88 at the Mapletown Crossroads in Greensboro.
