She was baptised at Elstree on 20 August 1834. A poet and author of 'Leaves from the Olive Mount' (dedicated to her father, 1860), 'Cowl and Cap, or The Rival Churches' (1865) and 'Devotional Lays' (1868), she also did charitable work among the poor. She was referred to as "little Kate", "Katie" or "Katey" in letters by Charles Dickens, a close friend of her father, and also contributed poems to 'Household Words', with Dickens insisting on paying for them when her father tried to avoid paying her.

Living with her father on the census nights in 1851 and 1861, she died at sea of pthisis on voyage from Madeira to Southampton on the 'Celt', which arrived at Southampton on 2 April.
