Her birth mother was Maggie (Callins) Williams, who died when she was only four years of age. She was apparently adopted by her mother's mother and stepfather, so her mother appears as her sibling. She appears on the Texas Birth Index as infant of Richard Williams, who was her birth father, as she had apparently not been given a name at time of birth. Her death certificate has the day of her birth as June 1, but the Texas Birth Index lists her birthday as June 8.
