Jay L. Codner, a former resident of this village, passed away last Thursday morning at his home in Central Square at the age of 81.

He was born in State Bridge October 12, 1864, a son of Sarah Lewis and Charles A. Codner. He married Miss Amy Foil in Amboy, where the couple spent their early wedded life. Later they moved to Westdale when their daughter, Cynthia, was a little girl, and afterward came to Camden to live.

Mr. Codner then formed a partnership with Cynthia's husband, William Reymore of Central Square, establishing the Codner & Reymore Chevrolet Garage and repair shop. His wife passed away and he made his home permanently with his daughter and her husband. Two years ago Mrs. Reymore died, and Mr. Codner continued to live with his son-in-law, and a cousin who acts as housekeeper. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services were conducted at the late home Sunday, with the Rev. Mr. Williams of the Methodist Church as officiating clergyman. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Eva Dale of Camden and Mrs. June Bray of Westdale, who with Mr. Bray attended the funeral.
