Avo W. Bryant, 88, passed away June 30, 2000. Funeral services were conducted July 2 from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville, TN, with burial in the Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Bros. Ovle Tinch and Harold Walker officiated.

Mrs. Bryant was born June 18, 1912, in Putnam County, the daughter of the late Bill and Nancy Sparks Whiteaker.

She was a homemaker and a member of Brotherton Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Muriel Bryant Peek of Cookeville; son, Colon Bryant of Cookeville; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert T. and Linda Bryant of Cookeville and David and Brenda Bryant of Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters, Alta Brewer of Cookeville and Alcie Bohanon of Crossville; four granddaughters, Donna Bryant and Beth Bryant, both of Algood, TN, and Michelle Bowman and Kim Madewell, both of Cookeville; grandson, Jayson Bryant of Lebanon; and seven great-grandchildren.

he was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bryant; her parents, Bill and Nancy Whiteaker; son-in-law, Tillmon H. Peek; three sisters; and four brothers.

Whitson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
