The son of a career Army officer, Mike attended school in Germany and Arlington, Virginia before his dad retired from the military and moved home to Jackson. Mike attended Provine High School (1964) and Hinds Junior College (1966). He then transferred to LSU where he received his degree in architecture in 1971. After serving two years in the Army, Mike began his 40-year architecture career in the Jackson area. The last eight years of his career was spent in the Mississippi State Department of Finance overseeing state construction contracts. He was highly respected in his professional career.
Mike married the love of his life, Christine Cook, in May, 1970. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. They have one daughter, Katherine Beauchamp Lunsford and one granddaughter, Angel Lunsford.
Mike was very active in his church, Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Learned, Mississippi where he served as a deacon for the last three years.
He loved his family, including his and his wife's very large extended families. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard, watching sports and DIY shows on TV. He even indulged in country-western dancing.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Terry Beauchamp, and his mother, Clarice Beauchamp. He is survived by his wife, Chris Beauchamp, his daughter Kathy Lunsford, his beloved granddaughter, Angel Lunsford and his brother Wallace Adrian "Pat" Beauchamp III (Phillis) of Tucson, Arizona. Many, many nieces and nephews adored their Uncle Mike.
Visitation for Mike will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Lebanon Presbyterian Church from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by a service at 11:00am. Burial will be at the Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
