Jack was born March 7, 1944 to Vester and Myrtle (nee Campbell) Smith in Elizabethton, Tennessee where he attended Unaka High School. Jack spent his childhood in Elizabethton running and working on the family farm with his six siblings, Clifford, Lloyd, Joyce, Delores, Geraldine and Floyd, all of whom adored their little brother Jackie.
Jack moved to Toledo in 1962 to work for General Motors. He later completed an apprenticeship in Tool and Die at Unit Tool, then became a self-employed carpenter and roofer. Jack worked many years roofing and building homes, many of them with his loving wife, Paulette beside him.
Jack met the love of his life, Paulette (nee Brooker) in 1961 at McCloud's Restaurant in Lambertville where Paulette was a waitress. They were married in June of 1965 at St. Anthony's Church in the Village of St. Anthony, Michigan.
Jack was an accomplished musician, playing the banjo and guitar for most of his life. Most recently, Jack loved playing bluegrass music with his close friends, Rick and Liz Cummings, and Dave and Camy Wolford.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Myrtle, brothers Clifford, Lloyd, and Floyd, and sister Delores Papantoniou, sisters-in-law Ruth Smith and Janice Craig and brothers-in-law John Milam, Terry Burrow, Butch Brooker, and Tony Brooker. Jack is survived by his wife, Paulette, son Robby (Destiny) Morris, granddaughter Jacquelyn Morris, sisters Geraldine Burrow and Joyce Milam, sisters-in-law Dimple Smith, Sharleen Smith, Judy Estus and Patty (Louie) Vogel, brothers-in-law George Papantoniou, Bernie (Sheryl) Brooker, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Jack will be held Friday, November 12th, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road (at Jackman Rd.), Temperance, Michigan 48182. Services will be immediately following the visitation. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
