Marilyn, a daughter of the late Edmund and Marion (Davey) Cadieux, was born in Schenectady, NY. She is survived by her previous husband, Thomas E. Connor, Jr., PA , two sons, Thomas (and Emilie) Connor, CT, and Michael (and Maria) Connor, MA; four daughters, Marianne Connor, MA, Cathleen Connor, FL, Maureen (and Peter) Gormley, MA, and Carolyn (and Joseph) Baney, PA; 11 grandchildren, Destina (and Florencia) and Dylan (and Ting) Connor, Sofia Grace and Ben Connor, Michael and Evan Consani, Arwen Gormley, and Joseph (and Athena), Rachel, Shelby, and Desiray Baney; and two great grandchildren, Ayla and Nolan. She also has many Long stepchildren beloved to her, including Roy (and Shira), Rick (and Erika), Russ (and April), and Rebecca and Cookie Long, and all their children, Christopher, Alexander, Andrew and Aden; Antoinette, Russell, Rian, Abbigael, Robert, and Randon; and Ariel, Jasmine, Hannah, and Stephen.
Marilyn lived most of her adult life in the Reading area, raising her family and serving in her professional career as a nurse, director of nursing, and nursing/diabetes educator. She had a BS degree in Nursing from the College of St Rose in Albany, NY, a Master's in Education from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA and a Master's in Family Therapy from the University of Delaware. She was a lifetime learner, and she loved her classes on mysticism at Alvernia Senior College.
Marilyn loved music and song. She performed in various musical theater roles throughout her life, including with the Reading Civic Opera. She sang in church choirs and did personalized singing story performances at various events in her later years.
Marilyn also loved to read. Reading 'saved her' in her young life when she was largely confined to bed due to illness for a year; it fueled her personal development and academic reflections in her middle age and career, and it was her favorite pastime later in life when she was a voracious romance and mystery novel reader. Her weekly trips to Barnes & Noble to further stock her already brimming library was the highlight of her final five years of life.
Marilyn loved to travel and explore both physically and metaphysically, but above all, Marilyn loved being a mother and grandmother. She always provided ongoing, active love and support and powerful prayers for her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids throughout her life. She also strove adamantly to keep her family together as a loving and supportive whole through our annual family reunions at Lake Sacandaga as well as family gatherings on holidays. She lived her love and hope for all of us and the world.
