Charles Richard Koch, Sr., 86, of Carolina Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. Born in Elizabeth City on September 22, 1932 to the late George Frank Koch, Sr. and Etta Alberta White Koch, he was the husband of Mildred Cecilia Gibbs Koch. Mr. Koch served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard and was a retired firefighter for the Department of Defense where he served as Assistant Fire Chief for Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Koch was a member of City Road United Methodist Church where he was the Men's Sunday School teacher. He also served on the board of the Firemen's Pension Fund.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Andrea Koch McLamb (Jamie) of Garner, NC; two sons, Charles Richard Koch, Jr. (Jill) and Stephen Paul Koch, all of Elizabeth City, NC; and three grandchildren, John G. McLamb, Luke McLamb, and Tyler A. Koch.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Sylvia Collins-Ball officiating. The family will receive friends at City Road United Methodist Church
