Robert Gene McCranie, 84, of Moultrie, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Winston Baker officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Westview Cemetery.

Born April 30, 1930, in West Palm Beach, Fla., he was the son of the late George Ransom McCranie and Lou Jessie Holland McCranie.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired warehouse manager with Flint River Textiles in Albany. He was also formerly associated with Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. He was a member of the Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons, his family remarked. "You couldn't ask for a better daddy. He was always there for his family," his daughter remembered.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie McCranie; and one brother, Charles McCranie.

Survivors include one daughter, Kim McCranie of Moultrie; one son, Randy McCranie and companion Pam Posey of Albany; three grandchildren, Jason Thompson of Moultrie, Blake Thompson of Biloxi, Miss., and Rachel Mulford and husband Justin of Sale City; three great-grandchildren, Kailey Mulford, Bryce Mulford and Reagan Layne Thompson; one sister, Gladys Barlow of Tifton; and two step-daughters, Debbie Houston and Pat Faith, both of Shellman, Ga.
